Dr. Xiaowen Wang is an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), China. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of space geodetic techniques, with particular emphasis on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and optical image cross-correlations. Dr. Wang is interested in employing these advanced techniques to quantitatively analyze ground deformations arising from geohazards like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain permafrost creep. Integrating data from field surveys with comprehensive numerical modeling, Dr. Wang seeks to deepen our understanding of the physical mechanisms behind observed deformation signals. He is committed to enhancing the safety and stability of human infrastructures, aiming to make a substantial contribution to the assessment, prevention, and mitigation of geohazards.
Currently, Dr. Wang is the lead Principal Investigator (PI) on several prestigious projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, China.
